Evidence of explosion found on San Juan Island

A crater approximately 5 feet in diameter and 8-10 inches deep was found on the north side of Jensen's Bay Road on San Juan Island this morning.  According to a reliable source gunshots were heard about 30 seconds before a loud boom at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, 2019. The crater and debris, indicative of a tannerite explosion, can be seen about 300 to 400 feet in from Cattle Point Road.

Tannerite is a  brand of binary explosive targets used for firearms practice and sold in kit form.

The Sheriff's Office wasn't releasing any information Tuesday  except to say there is an ongoing investigation.

If you have any information on this incident, the Sheriff's non-emergency number is 360.378.4151.

This has me very concerned after experiencing one of these nov. 29 at 3:57 am. Near kanaka bay. It was terrifyingly. Talking to Charlie Clark who lives up the hill, he said he heard it then heard a truck peal away and a hole of sorts was found. . This is not a one time event! I hope everyone is diligent in reporting and finding this individual who is dangerous!!!
