Tucker Avenue reconstruction is headed toward the finish line. The street will not include bike lanes but will include sharrow lanes - a double-chevron road marking indicating a shared cycle/vehicle lane.
Town Administrator Duncan Wilson said there were never plans for bicycle lanes due to the fact the town's right-of-way wasn't wide enough. The sharrow lanes are wider than regular travel lanes.
Whether all the paving is done this year is not known at this time. The final layer of asphalt may not be laid until next spring if the construction firm is unable to get all the pavement this year.
There is no truth to the rumor that Tucker Avenue will be dug up again next year.
