Seven winners in the 2019 San Juan Island Library Bookmark contest

Seven students are winners in the San Juan Island Library 2019 Bookmark Contest. The Bookmark Contest is hosted annually for students in grades K-5th to promote literacy and the library’s Summer Reading Program. This summer’s theme is A Universe of Stories.

Kindergarten Winner – Wynn Wall of Friday Harbor Elementary School

1St Grade Winner – Sara Schubert of Stillpoint

2nd Grade Winner – Zea Angevine of FHES

3rd Grade Winner – Penelope Moore of FHES

4th Grade Winner – Sienna Bartlett of FHES

The winners received gift certificates to Griffin Bay Bookstore. The winning bookmarks have been reproduced for library patrons to take home and can be viewed on the San Juan Island Library’s website at All the bookmark entries are currently on display in the children’s area of the library.

Thanks to the Friends of the San Juan Island Library for their financial support of the Bookmark Contest. Also, a big shout out goes to the students for participating, and the local schools, homeschool families, and staff at Friday Harbor Elementary School for their assistance with facilitating.
