Volunteer facilitator sought in SJC for Alzheimer's Assoc.

PRESS RELEASE: Interested in providing support to those caring for a loved one with memory loss? Alzheimer's Association caregiver support groups provide a place for caregivers to learn and gain support from others caring for a person with memory loss.

We need your help to facilitate these groups throughout San Juan County.

If you or someone you know wants to volunteer or learn more about our organization and programs, please call Linda Whiteside at 206.363.5500 or 800.848.7097 or emaillinda.whiteside@alzwa.org.

Support groups also serve as an opportunity for participants to receive information on care management, available services, and current research and treatment options.

Alzheimer’s disease is one of the fastest growing concerns in the United States. Within just the first six years of this decade, deaths from Alzheimer’s disease increased by 46%. Within Washington State, the prediction is that 150,000 people will be living with Alzheimer’s disease by 2025—an 81% increase from the year 2000. In the year 2010, nearly 310,000 people in the state of Washington cared for loved ones living with dementia. The Alzheimer’s Association is the world leader in Alzheimer’s disease research and support, and we are continually striving to progress and make a difference in the fight against this disease. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s. For more information on the Alzheimer’s Association, visit www.alzwa.org.
