Dec. 12: San Juan Island PHD to hold special meeting about merger with Fire District (AGENDA added)

San Juan County Public Hospital District #1 will be holding a special meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 12 at the Mullis Street FIre Station in Friday Harbor. The hospital commission will be meeting jointly with the Town of Friday Harbor, San Juan Island Fire and Rescue, and the Citizen’s Advisory Group (CAG). The purpose is to discuss the progress of the CAG examining whether consolidation between SJIEMS and FD#3 is feasible and desirable.

CDC issues Romaine Lettuce Alert

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), public health officials in several states, Canada and FDA are investigating a multistate outbreak of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli O157:H7 infections linked to romaine lettuce. CDC is advising that U.S. consumers not eat any romaine lettuce and they should throw it away.

AG Ferguson asks court to hold Johnson & Johnson liable for failing to disclose the dangers of its surgical mesh devices

Company concealed risks that can result in devastating health impacts to women

SEATTLE — Attorney General Bob Ferguson Friday, October 26, 2018 asked a court to rule that Johnson & Johnson misrepresented, and in some cases failed to disclose entirely, serious risks associated with its surgical mesh devices.

Oct. 24: San Juan Island PHD to review report on investigation about a November 2017 EMS run

 

San Juan County Public Hospital District No. 1 Board of Commissioners will hold their regular monthly meeting at 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Frank Wilson Memorial EMS Building, 1079 Spring Street in Friday Harbor. Included in the agenda is an executive session to discuss a report commissioned by the board at a cost of up to $4,000 to review an EMS call from November 2017.
