April 11: San Juan Island Garden club host trip to Discover Garden and Tulips
- Published in Information
The first stop of the day will be the Demonstration Garden in Mount Vernon. In 1994, the WSU Skagit County Master Gardeners had a vision for a Demonstration Garden. It took two years to plan the garden, then in the fall of 1996, the first structure trees and fences were established.
Over the next two years, with the help of many committed WSU Master Gardeners and the community, the garden was planted. Today the Discovery Garden has grown to 30 Garden Rooms.
Then on to La Conner where one can visit the quilt museum, art gallery and enjoy lunch at one of the many indoor or outdoor restaurants. The return to the ferry will be a slow wandering path through the tulip fields.
