April 1: George Rodriguez - Art as a Voice at Mullis Center in Friday Harbor

Come hear George Rodriguez talk about his work and journey at 2 pm Saturday, April 1 at The Mullis Center in Friday Harbor.

Seattle based ceramic artist George Rodriguez talks about the oversized ceramic personalities he creates and the stories that revolve around each sculpture. His work is the manifestation of the individual against the backdrop of community, and the modern world against the backdrop of the ancient.

Learn about George’s clay upbringing, community projects and the 14 person collaboration series titled “El Zodiaco Familiar.”

George holds an MFA in ceramics from the University of Washington, and his work has been widely exhibited in museums in the Pacific Northwest, including the Foster White Gallery in Seattle, The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art, the Hallie Ford Museum of Art in Salem, Oregon, and can be found in the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago, Renwick Gallery of the American Smithsonian Museum and the National Museum in Stockholm, Sweden.
