Kevin Taylor was sentenced to 240 months in prison on one count of murder in the second-degree. He was also sentenced to 14 months on one count of arson. The sentences will be served concurrently.
Judge Alan Hancock presided in San Juan County Superior Court Monday, July 22 and handed down the sentence after listening to several people who spoke about the victim. Julie Taylor was murdered by Kevin Taylor during Labor Day weekend 2016.
Five years of the 20-year sentence is because a firearm was used. Kevin Taylor beat his wife to death with a rifle.
Kevin Taylor asked the judge for a temporary release so he could go visit his late wife's grave. Judge Hancock denied the request.
