San Juan Islands Sheriff's Log May 11-17: Firearms, tree hits car, person trespassed from ferry, missing boat, illegal moorage

San Juan County Deputies responded to 177 calls from May 11-17, 2022 including: The Coast Guard seized narcotics and two firearms during a vessel safety inspection in Fisherman Bay. A Lopez deputy collected the items for investigation. A Deputy on San Juan Island responded to a report of shooting without a safe backstop. Upon arrival it was discovered they did not have a safe back stop. The rules for shooting on private property were explained and the involved parties said they understood. A San Juan deputy responded to a report of a weapon offense involving someone possessing a firearm after receiving a notice of suspension of firearms rights. A search warrant was executed on the residence and a handgun was seized and placed in evidence. A Deputy on San Juan Island took possession of a firearm due to a court order to surrender.
