San Juan Islands Sheriff's Log May 18-24, 2022: Chickens killed by 2 dogs running loose; theft of dog reported, IMC staff rescue boaters...

San Juan County Deputies responded to 185 calls from May 18-24, 2022 including: Two at-large dogs killed two chickens on San Juan Island. The deputy contacted the dog owner. The victim did not wish to pursue charges and the owner was warned for dog at-large. A boat became loose in Fisherman Bay during extreme wind conditions. A Coast Guard helicopter was deployed. Island Marine Center staff secured the adrift vessel and ferried the people onboard back to the safety of land. A San Juan deputy was advised that a fugitive had fled to Friday Harbor to avoid prosecution. The suspect was later located and booked into jail to await extradition.
