Islander's memoir "Educating Emily" on sale now

Emily Connery, who has lived on San Juan Island since 1988, has written a memoir, Educating Emily. This book illustrates, through case descriptions, her work as a clinical social worker in Watts, at a psychiatric hospital in Long Beach and, in northern California, at a treatment center for adolescent boys and a county outpatient clinic.

Interwoven with therapeutic verbal images are several trips taken to provide the author diversity and to satisfy her curiosity. The reader will find Educating Emily a thoughtful well written story of human drama and compassion. Those who have read it call it a "page turner."
