September SJI EMT of the Month - Robin DeLazerda

San Juan Island Emergency Medical Services Emergency Medical Technician Robin DelaZerda was named EMT of the month for September 2017. In addition to being a volunteer EMT, she's a county  dispatcher in the Sheriff's Office, a volunteer EMT Association Treasurer and a mother.

She has a busy household, with her children including a high school senior, a couple of dogs and a recently rescued King snake named Houdini due to his "great escapes."

In September, Robin saved the life of a 72-year-old woman dining at a local Friday Harbor restaurant. She was at the Sheriff's Office and hadn't yet checked in when a call came in about a choking victim. She grabbed Deputy Zac Reimer and they raced to the restaurant where Robin successfully performed the Heimlich manuever.

SJI EMS thanks Robin for her dedication and service.

Volunteer EMT's as well as volunteer Fire Fighters are the back bone of the first response system in any community and San Juan Island have some of the best I have had the privilege to work with. Robin is one of those that can be considered the best of the best
