Salisbury wins ferry haiku contest

Lisa Salisbury of San Juan Island wrote the winning haiku in the Washington State Ferries contest. There were more than 500 entries. Her winning haiku will appear on the cover of the Summer 2018 ferry schedule.

The more than 500 entries were winnowed down to three by Washington State Poet Laureate Claudia Castro Luna. Salisbury's received the most likes of the three finalists.

Gliding through the Salish Sea

Summer light shimmers
