February 1, 2024 - Inspired POP Art is coming to San Juan Island library in February. This is an opportunity to explore your inner art genius, give it a twist and create your own version of POP art. Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the 1950s-60s drawing inspiration from sources in popular and commercial culture. After the hanging and until April, the visitors, staff and public will “beat the winter doldrums” with the fresh and playful POP art from our inspired community.
The shows are open to the public and all talent levels are welcome. If you own art on this theme, but are not the artist, we also welcome your participation. The Library Art Committee hangs five shows a year with themes.
Participants bring their ready-to-hang art in from 10 am to 12 noon on Saturday, February 17. All artists participating in the GOOD EATS! show should pick up their art then, also. Cards with the themes and dates are available at the computer table. We look forward to your art!
Coming later in 2024 are Celebration of Horses, The Unexpected, Discovering Paths and Childhood.
If you have any questions about the art exhibit or the Library Art Committee, contact Diane Martindale at 360-370-5814.
Library cards are free of charge to islanders with proof of residency. Library hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 pm and Sundays 12 noon to 3 p.m.
In addition to its collections of materials to loan, the library also provides public access computers and WiFi.
