Town of Friday Harbor seeking applicants for scholarship fund

The Town is now accepting applications for the AWC Center for Quality Communities Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is available through a statewide competitive process for students who are actively engaged in their city government and/or community and plan to attend post-secondary school in fall 2020. Up to six $1500 scholarships will be awarded. As a member of the Association of Washington Cities (AWC), the Town may nominate one student each year. Two Friday Harbor students have received this scholarship in the past five years.

Island Rec Resolution Run Results

Island Rec's Resolution Run 5K took place January 1, 2020 in Friday Harbor. FIfty-four hardy souls registered, the largest number so far. A few brave participants jumped into the waters for Island Rec's Salish Splash at Jackson's Beach, then warmed up by the bonfire.

11 real estate sales of more than $1 million in December 2019 in the San Juan Islands

Real estate transactions in the San Juan Islands in December 2019 included 11 of  more than $1 million.  Nine were on San Juan Island, one on Decatur Island and one on Lopez Island. The following information is gathered from the Real Estate Excise Tax forms submitted to San Juan County's Treasurer's Office. The sale amount is in bold and the dollar amount in parentheses is the assessed value according to the county Assessor's office.
