In 2009, the most recent year figures are available, 4,025 or 26 percent of San Juan County residents received Social Security Old Age, Survivor or Disability Insurance Benefits (OASDI).  Of the recepients 86.5 were retired, 7.3 received survivor benefits and 6.2 received disability insurance benefits. The amount disbursed was $57,222,304.

The per capita payment equaled $3,696. The per capita average for the state of Washington is $2,137 and for the U.S. is $2,199.
