Elizabeth was born February 21, 1928, into the Painter family, who owned the famous Painter’s Lodge fishing resort in Campbell River, BC. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, Peter, Philip, Trish and Susan on September 14, 2022. Mum was so thankful for all the joys in her life. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren.
She was fortunate to enjoy good health and good fortune. Her passion was her garden, sharing it with others and being close to nature. She loved playing cards, her competitive streak was legendary. She loved golf and the friends who shared her love of the game.
Mum was a quiet force, fiercely independent and adored and admired by everyone who knew her. Mum was so happy on Lopez having moved many times in her life. She was so thankful to stay put in the sanctuary she created. Elizabeth was so grateful for all her wonderful friends on Lopez and the Island’s caring community.
There will be a private family celebration of her life. Her family wishes to acknowledge the compassionate care given to Elizabeth and her family by Hospice Northwest.
