Mercury Enters Leo on Monday, Opposes Pluto in Aquarius; Mercury Sextile Jupiter in Gemini; New Moon in Cancer on Friday

We come to Independence Day Week and despite everything politically, people are out in force to celebrate the holiday. Fortunately, the Mercury/Pluto opposition will be pretty much over with on the day itself.

Mercury oppose Pluto is a rather odd alignment. It has to do with the uncovering of secret things, it is the alignment that favors misinformation and propaganda and the swaying of minds. It’s also confusing and it’s easy to lose one’s footing in an argument. I’m pretty sure there will be news out in the wild during this transit which, while short-lived, is pretty powerful. It takes a steady mind to get through it and stay sane if you’re around a lot of people.

Mercury is also in a nice alignment to Jupiter in Gemini, which helps with mental processes and helps us stay sharp. By the same token, this is also why I expect widespread news, since Jupiter expands anything it touches, for better or for worse.

On Friday, we have a New Moon in Cancer, which the Moon rules. The Water signs will feel it the most. It will encourage us to tone down the emotions and think clearly.

Happy 4th to everyone and be safe!

Keep looking up, stay healthy, and…

Keep looking after each other!

Aries (March 21- April 19): Mercury enters Leo (your sector of Creative Expression/Children) and immediately opposes Pluto in Aquarius (your sector of Friends/Goals). This may have quite the effect on you as external pressure in the form of having to invent or reinvent something comes into play for the first few days of the week. Mercury is also in a lovely alignment to Jupiter in Gemini (your sector of Thinking/Communication), so you’ll definitely be able to think your way through this. Friday’s New Moon in Cancer will encourage you to express your emotions with empathy and sensitivity since it is well aligned to Saturn.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Mercury moves into Leo (your sector of Home) on Monday and immediately opposes Pluto in Aquarius (your sector of Career/Social Standing). This creates a potential situation to be in touch with your home from the workplace more often for the first few days of the week, or if you’re away from home on a trip, you’ll need to check in often. Mercury is also in a nice alignment to Jupiter in Gemini (your sector of Finances/Resources), so it looks like your bank has good news. The beginning of the week is very active and it will settle down just in time for the New Moon in Cancer (your sector of Thinking/Communication) on Friday, encouraging you to be in touch with your emotions.

Gemini (May 21-June 20):  Your Ruler Mercury enters Leo (your sector of Thinking/Communication) on Monday and immediately opposes Pluto in Aquarius (your sector of Expansion/Travel), prompting you to reconsider a trip or higher education or a spiritual retreat of some sort. This will affect you for the first few days of the week. If things aren’t obvious, wait it out for a few days and see how it feels. On Friday, the New Moon in Cancer (your sector of Resources/Finances) will encourage you to step back and look at your resources in a different way.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22): Mercury enters Leo (your sector of Finances/Resources) on Monday and immediately opposes Pluto in Aquarius (your sector of Partnership/Shared Assets). This may precipitate tension between you and someone else over money for the first few days of the week. Helping you is Mercury in a nice angle to Jupiter in Gemini (your sector of Endings/New Beginnings), giving you the opportunity to communicate in a new way to get what you need. Friday’s New Moon in your sign helps you let go of fears and guilt.

Leo (July 23 – August 22): Mercury moves into your sign on Monday and immediately opposes Pluto in your sector of Relationship. This may create tension between you and your S/O where you may feel at a loss for words, or searching for an entirely different way of communicating. The good news is that Mercury is in a nice alignment to Jupiter in Gemini (your sector of Friends/Goals), so you have the support of your friends and fresh minds to help you out if need be (not that you ever ask for help). Friday’s New Moon in Cancer (your sector of Endings/New Beginnings) helps you let go of what you don’t need.

Virgo (August 23 – September 21): Mercury enters Leo (your sector of Endings/New Beginnings) and immediately opposes Pluto in Aquarius (your sector of Work/Health) for the first few days of the week. You may have some trouble in the workplace getting your point across, but it will pass. Whomever is listening to you is also under this influence, so everyone has to just try a bit harder. Mercury is also at a nice angle to Jupiter in Gemini (your sector of Career/Social Standing) and this helps you call on your higher power to help out. Friday’s New Moon in Cancer (your sector of Friends/Goals) urges you to let your friends know how much you care about them.

Libra (September 22 – October 23): Mercury moves into Leo (your sector of Friends/Goals) on Monday and immediately opposes Pluto in Aquarius (your sector of Creative Expression/Children). This may indicate that time with friends and children has to be comingled or that a current goal cuts into your creative time. Fortunately, this only lasts a few days. Also, Mercury is in a nice alignment to Jupiter in Gemini (your sector of Expansion/Travel), so a planned trip may be in the works and needing to be tweaked. Friday’s New Moon in Cancer (your sector of Career/Social Standing) indicates that a female in your life may be stepping back.

Scorpio (October 24-November 22 – December 20): Mercury enters Leo (your sector of Career/Social Standing) on Monday and immediately opposes your Ruler Pluto in Aquarius (your sector of Home). This indicates that your home and career or project are colliding in some manner and some space between them is needed. Fortunately, this alignment only lasts a few days and Mercury is also well aligned to Jupiter in Gemini (your sector of Partnership/Shared Assets), so there’s help for you to relieve the pressure. Friday’s New Moon in Cancer (your sector of Expansion/Travel) encourages you to take a rest for a bit.

Sagittarius (November 23 – December 20): Mercury enters Leo (your sector of Expansion/Travel) on Monday and immediately opposes Mercury in Aquarius (your sector of Communication/Thinking). This could cause a few days of confusion at the beginning of the week if you’re considering a trip, higher education, a spiritual retreat or anything to expand your horizons. Fortunately, Mercury is in a nice alignment to your Ruler Jupiter in Gemini (Relationship) and you can count on your S/O (or besties if you’re single) to guide you if needed. Friday’s New Moon in Cancer (your sector of Partnership) encourages you to be still and listen.

Capricorn (December 21 – January 20): Mercury sails into Leo (your sector of Partnership) on Monday and immediately opposes Pluto in Aquarius (your sector of Finances/Resources). There may be tension between you and another over money for a few days. Fortunately, Mercury is also in a nice alignment to Jupiter in Gemini (your sector of Work/Health), so the situation doesn’t appear to be major or strenuous. Friday’s New Moon in your opposite sign Cancer (Relationship) urges you to cherish both the closeness and the space between you and your S/O; if you’re single, you’re urged to let go of old fears and disappointments over past relationships.

Aquarius (January 21 - February 20): Mercury enters your opposite sign Leo (Relationship) on Monday and immediately opposes Pluto in your sign. For a few days, there may be some intense discussions between you and your S/O; if you’re single, you may have intense encounters with others that may give you pause. Mercury is also nicely aligned with Jupiter in Gemini (your sector of Creative Expression/Children), so your creative thinking comes into play here as you process what’s going on. Friday’s New Moon in Cancer (your sector of Work/Health) urges you to keep your emotions in check.

Pisces (February 21 – March 20): On Monday, Mercury enters Leo (your sector of Work/Health) and immediately opposes Pluto in Aquarius (your sector of Endings/New Beginnings). This will last for a few days and could cause some confusion as new protocols enter the scene. Mercury is also in a nice alignment with Jupiter in Gemini (your sector of Home), so your home space is where you can get your head together and process what’s going on. Friday’s New Moon in Cancer (your sector of Creative Expression/Children) encourages you to not think with your emotions.

Who is Triana?

Triana is a professional astrologer and amateur astronomer who has had a lifelong love for the stars and planets, mythology, philosophy and science.

Due to her mother’s interest in astrology and metaphysics, Triana had access to a large library growing up and cut her teeth on Aesop’s Fables, a set of the Classics that her grandfather gave her and Greek mythology. By the time she was in the 6th grade she was playing with astrology and reading charts for her friends at school.

Upon completing her university studies in biochemistry, Triana relocated to the United Kingdom in 1988 and began to study the patterns of the stars recorded in the landscape of Great Britain in the form of stone monuments. Using survey maps and a compass, Triana made her way from the islands of Scotland down to Cornwall and made good use of British astrology books and astrological groups and congresses led by the top astrologers of the 20th century. By the time she was 35, Triana’s own style of interpreting the angles and aspects of the planets began to emerge. She began to receive serious attention in the UK for her astrological prowess and she flourished.

In 1996 Triana found success in writing weekly horoscopes through a small newspaper on Lopez Island, WA. Fairly quickly her name spread and her clientele increased, enabling her to travel to different places in Washington State to give presentations and conduct personal readings. Her clientele spanned from the UK to Canada as well as the United States. Visitors came to Lopez Island from afar as she herself became a destination in the islands.

Triana has been featured on television, radio and in newspapers in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the UK.

Her weekly column can be found on sanjuanislander.com and she can be reached at triana.elan@gmail.com.

You can reach Triana via her Facebook page.
