View from the Library: Changes afoot Featured

New Year anticipation, end of the year restlessness, or enforced indoor time? Whatever the reason, there are changes afoot at the San Juan Island Library!

A new year, some new colors

Brightly awash in blue, yellow and ‘stem’ green, the Children’s area has had a much-needed facelift. These happy, engaging colors are exciting and fun, and a welcome contrast to the dreary grey of winter. They also reflect our new logo and, hand-in-hand, this bright new outlook positions the Library for an exciting 2019!

Local Authors Unite

To help highlight and raise the profile of our talented local authors, the Library has created a new temporary collection, the Local Author collection. This sits where the temporary Poetry collection was, on the left hand side of the central Graphic Novel shelves. Signage will be coming soon.

Highlighted by bright pink tape and a local author sticker, the shelves hold items from Nonfiction, Fiction, Young Adult, Children’s and Graphic Novel collections. Take a moment to explore, and meet some of our community’s creative forces.

WiFi Hours

Just as the Library provides free access to books, magazines, movies and much more, it also provides access to free internet- even after hours! Available from our parking lot, un-encrypted WiFi is accessible from 5 am to 10 pm daily.

For more information, visit the San Juan Island Library at 1010 Guard Street or follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Our website is available 24/7 and offers streaming video, downloadable eBooks and audiobooks, and a wide range of online databases. Questions? Call us at 360-378-2798.
