Donations appreciated to help San Juan Islander continue

  • Written by Sharon Kivisto

January was the start of SanJuanIslander.com's 23rd year of reporting the news in the San Juan Islands. Journalism in a small town is a fascinating albeit challenging occupation.

The most difficult part of journalism, is making it a financially viable proposition. This is a problem across the nation for media large and small, local and regional. It gets harder every year. You may have noticed more and more paywalls have been installed. Or more and more Google ads or advertorials posted on sites.

Obviously, Google ads are part of the strategy keeping San Juan Islander afloat. I'm exploring other options. Editor and Publisher magazine has some suggestions.

In the meantime,  donations are gratefully appreciated.  Thanks for all your support during the past 22 years.
