To the citizens of San Juan County, please join us in voting for Eric Peter for Sheriff. Eric Peter is well-prepared to lead this county's law enforcement in today's rapidly evolving world. He respects this community by reaching out and listening to a wide range of community members. As Sergeant, he identifies deputies' strengths and areas for growth and seeks to provide them with the guidance and training they need to better serve this community.
Eric has the most relevant experience which includes working with diverse groups of people to target problems like drug trafficking, and acquiring valuable skills in crime analysis. He is certified to teach at the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Center, evidence of his crucial knowledge and ability to effectively communicate with and manage deputies.
With law enforcement under a microscope, why choose someone who raises more questions than answers? Eric leads by example; he understands that leaders must hold themselves to higher standards because you lose community trust hiding behind technicalities, precedent and delegation.
ln our isolated rural county, deputies are called upon to handle a broad range of issues. Eric has made his commitment to this community clear by calling for deputies to be properly trained to safely and appropriately address the wide scope of challenges they are required to confront. Forcing them to handle matters like animal control and corrections without any training is irresponsible and places the deputies and communitv at risk of lawsuits.
A public service agency must responsibly manage resources but it serves a very different purpose than a business. That distinction needs to be acknowledged and respected. Emergency responders need training because people's lives are at stake not shareholder profits. Training reduces liability and ensures accountability, which helps to build community trust and save taxpayer money. A leader like Eric Peter understands this.
It is time for responsive, effective leadership. Please Vote Eric Peter for San Juan County Sheriff.
