16 environmental groups create parade entry about orcas - video posted

Friends of the San Juans and 15 other environmental protection groups joined together to put a spotlight on the plight of the Southern Resident Killer Whales. The groups' entry, The Orca Protectors, in the 2017 Friday Harbor Fourth of July parade included people carrying cutouts of whale fins. Each black one represented one of the members of J, K or L pods. Seven white cutouts stood for the orcas that died in the past year. The entry won the Judges Special Choice prize.

Ben Bama sent in a video of the entry. It is posted at the bottom of this page.
