September 4: EDC and Northwest Regional Council to Host Free Workshop on The WA Cares fund

San Juan County Economic Development Council (EDC) with the Northwest Regional Council (NWRC) will host a free workshop and info session, Learn about the WA Cares program, most Washington workers are already contributing to this program, learn about benefits, eligibility, and applying. The session will take place on Friday, September 4, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Heritage Bank conference room. A virtual attendance option will also be available.

This workshop and information session will cover the WA Cares program, what it is, why it was created, the application process, and how to be eligible for benefits. Most Washington workers are automatically contributing to the WA Cares program, and when eligible, they can receive benefits to pay for long-term care support.

The presenters, Abi Sweeney and Sami Rowe-Tillinghast, work at Northwest Regional Council (NWRC) on the WA Cares team.

Abi recently joined NWRC’s WA Cares team as an Outreach Specialist and provides education about the program.

Sami Rowe-Tillinghast works as a Contract Specialist to bring the WA Cares Fund to life for families across Northwest Washington. She recruits and contracts providers across services like in-home care, transportation, home safety, and adult day services, helping support Island, San Juan, Skagit, and Whatcom County residents as they age in place in their own homes.

The workshop is free of charge and requires pre-registration at https://sanjuansedc.org/bizlabs.
