Vicki Klein took the lead in the first week of the 12th Annual Frank Wilson Memorial Blackmouth Fishing Derby and never let go. She took home the $1,000 top prize in the tournament with her 18.72 lb fish. Rustie Mager won $500 with a second place finish for her 16.72 lb salmon. Jim Lawson beat out Greg Gorder by .01 lb for third place with his 15.47 lb fish. Lawson won $250.

Lance Rhinehart won the final weekly prize of a $50 gift certificate to King’s Marine with a 9.14 lber. Prizes will be awarded and mystery fish prize drawn later in the week.
The usual 10-week derby ended after six weeks due to an early closure of the Marine Area 7 Winter Chinook season after anglers reached a pre-determined limit of Chinook encounters.
Participants thank King’s Marine and King’s meat dept. for all the hard work and sponsorship. All proceeds from the derby go to San Juan Island Emergency Medical Services.
