Orcas girls beat Friday Harbor 57-32

Friday Harbor High School's  Lady Wolverines played the Lady Vikings on January 10 at Orcas. The Vikings jumped out to take the lead in the 1st quarter and never let up. Orcas Island won 57 -32  over Friday Harbor. Next game for the Wolverines is against the Darringon Loggers on Tuesday January 14, 2020. Girls game at 4 pm. Boys game at 5:30 pm. Boys game at 5:30 pm.

Wolverines and Vikings battle it out with Viking boys triumphant

Friday Harbor Wolverines played the Orcas Island Vikings on January 10 on Orcas Island. The Wolverines amassed a lead in the first two quarters with very aggressive play. The game changed in the third quarter when the Vikings hit a three-pointer at the buzzer. In the fourth quarter Friday Harbor came within two points of assuming the lead, but trouble scoring on several layup and foul shot attempts  meant they never pulled ahead. The Vikings won by  8 points. Final score Vikings 55 - Friday Harbor 47.

Lady Wolverines lose a close one to the Turks

Friday Harbor High School Wolverines hosted the Sultan Turks on Saturday Dec 21 at Turnbull gym. The Wolverine Girls took  the lead in the first quarter and kept a few points ahead of the Lady Turks.The  teams traded the lead over the next three quarters. With 2 minutes on the clock it looked like the Wolverines might take the win but that was not to be. The Turks had a decisive shooting spree taking the lead and the win 31-27. An exciting game for sure.


Island swimmers compete at home against Anacortes team

Orcas, the San Juan Island swim team competed against Anacortes Chinooks Saturday, December 21 at San Juan Island Fitness Club in Friday Harbor. The competition mimicked the situation in the Salish Sea. There weren't many Chinook. Fifty island swimmers ages from 7 to 17 competed against five Chinook team members. MEM Construction sponsored the meet. 


Hurricane girls beat Wolverines 55-14

Friday Harbor  Lady Wolverines had a tough night Friday, December 20 against the Lady Hurricanes. The Hurricanes had  a huge lead in the first half. It was late in the first half before the Wolverines got on the score board. Turnovers were the bane of the Lady Wolverines as the Hurricanes won 55-14.
