Friday Harbor boys face new challenge
Friday Harbor High School boys basketball team will be contending with a different task when it meet Ocosta High School in the Class 2B State Regional Tournament at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2016 in Mount Vernon High School.
"They play a different style than we've seen this year," said Friday Harbor coach Rod Turnbull. "They try to play uptempo."
The Wolverines will aim to slow down the Wildcats' quick shooters and break through their aggressive press on defense.
"If we can get out and guard them a bit and take care of the ball we should have some opportunities," Turnbull said.
Friday Harbor is 18-5 for the season. The Wolverines finished second in the Northwest 2B/1B League with an 11-3 record. They won the District 1 Tournament with a three-game sweep.
Ocosta is 23-3 this season. The Wildcats completed the regular season second in Pacific 2B League play, going 9-1. In postseason action, the Wildcats went 4-2 Class 2B District 4 Tournament and finished third.
