Friday Harbor girls soccer team out-shoot La Conner in district championship

Friday Harbor High School topped La Conner High School 3-2 in a shootout at the Class 1B/2B Girls Soccer Bi-District Championship Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at Sedro-Woolley High School. The Wolverines (15-3-1) advance as the bi-district's top seed to the state tournament. They will face Life Chistian Academy (12-4) at 2:30 p.m. at Sedro-Woolley.

The Wolverines scored first in their fourth match this season against the Braves when Abby Margolis booted one home midway through the first period. La Conner tied the contest with about a minute before halftime. The Braves went ahead halfway through the second period but Ava Hoffman drilled home the equalizer.

After two scoreless overtime periods, Friday Harbor dominated the shootout: Margolis, Hoffman, Hailey Swartz and Leah Black threaded the ball out of the Brave goalkeeper’s reach. La Conner connected on two of their attempts.
