Friday Harbor trimmed Concordia Christian 3-2 in the 2018 Bi-District Girls Soccer Championship Saturday, November 3 at Interlake High School. The undefeated Wolverines (12-0-3) move on as the Bi-District's No. 1 seed to the 1B/2B State Tournament and will play Adna (17-1) at 4 p.m. November 10 at Anacortes High School.
Adna won the Central 2B League with a 16-0 record but the Pirates were upset 2-0 by Kalama (16-2) in the District 4 Tournament Championship. The Chinooks, District 4's top seed, face Concordia (12-4). The Hawks enter state as the Bi-District's No. 2 seed.
Friday Harbor coach Paul Hopkins commended the Wolverines for their teamwork in the Bi-District title victory.
"The whole team played pretty well," Hopkins said. "Our girls are just a good team. They're not just relying on one or two people."
Concordia's Karianna Pel broke away for the match's first goal but Friday Harbor's Darcy Ayers, Leah Black and Jenna Gizza scored the next three goals.
"We controlled the ball most of the game," Hopkins said. "Their keeper did a good job of playing us aggressively. She came out on the ball a lot."
Pel added a second breakaway goal with about nine minutes to go but the Wolverines defense held.
