Six Wolverines advance to the Tri-District Track and Field Championships

Six Friday Harbor athletes won or placed second in their events at the Class 2B District Meet in Coupeville last week and will advance to the state-qualifying Tri-District Track and Field Championships at WF West High School in Chehalis Friday, May 20, 2022.

Lily Rock swept the longer runs. The junior won the 800-meter in two minutes, 49.61 seconds, the 1600 in 6:17.15 and the 3200 in 13:31.25. Sophomore McKenna Clark won the 100-meter with a PR of 13.68 and finished first in the 200 with a PR of 28.19.

In the boys’ competition, freshman Kade Waite won the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, three inches. Junior Mason Clark was runner-up in the triple jump with a 35-06.25 effort and also tied for second in the high jump with a 5-02.00 mark. Sophomore Noah Rovente finished second in the 1600 run with a personal-best time of 5:08.39. Sophomore Elian Bayas placed second in the shot put with a PR of 36-02.25.

The top Tri-District finishers qualify for the Class 2B State Championships. Others could also advance if they record a state-qualifying time or distance.
