Friday Harbor clips Coupeville 3-2 in extra frame, clinches league softball crown and playoff berth

Friday Harbor clipped Coupeville 3-2 in an extra-inning contest Thursday, May 4 at Linde Fields. With the rubber-match victory, the Wolverines clinched the Northwest 1B/2B League crown and the conference’s sole playoff berth.

With bases loaded and two outs and two strikes, pinch hitter Yaritza Plaza knocked a squibber up the first baseline. Audrey Allen zipped to the plate from third and beat the throw.

The Wolverines and Wolves entered the league finale with one loss. Friday Harbor trimmed Coupeville 13-2 in a home contest on March 28. The Wolves won the second meeting 8-1 on April 18.

Friday Harbor improves to 14-4 for the season and Coupeville is 14-7.
