Wolverines helping others

Friday Harbor JV and Varsity Girls soccer teams (and campers) at the mini-soccer camp breast cancer fund raiser on October 8th benefiting the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Mainlanders win King's Market-SJI Marathon/Half and 10K -

The mainlanders outran the competition in today's races in the King's Market-San Juan Island Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K. Tim O'Brien, 23, of Maple Valley (3:25:53) crossed the finish line first in the men's marathon, Angela Cota, 24, was the first woman marathoner across the finish line (3:32:49)

Locals outrun competition in Island Loop Run

Otto Schmidt crossed the finish line first n this morning's 8.8K annual Island Loop run with a time of 30:25:93. This is the Western Washington student's third time running this race and his second win. His other finish was either fourth or fifth. Second and third were a minute apart - Friday Harbor High School's new band teacher, Matt Frost (32:23:31) and Kevin McCrabb (33.23:51).

Madison Judkins, the first woman across the finish line at the fair's gate, was congratulated by her proud dad, Tim. Irina Bell, the second woman finisher, had a time of 40.39.

Island Rec Director Sally Kerr said 185 runners competed in this year's race.

Wolverine basketball game at 5 p.m. Feb. 10

Friday Harbor boys basketball team clinched the Northwest 1A/2B League title title with a 75-70 victory over visiting Cedar Park Christian Tuesday, Feb. 4. Friday Harbor opens post-season play with a home contest at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10 against Blaine.

Wagers made; Islanders ready for kick off

The 12th man spirit is evident in the San Juans. From the painted rock on Beaverton Valley Road to a  friendly wager between county and state governments to painted windows Orcas High School senior's video, islanders are showing their enthusiam for the Super Bowl which pits the Seattle Seahawks vs the Denver Broncos on Sunday, February 2.
