Friday Harbor High School wrestling team won the wrestling meet January 25, 2012 against LaConner.
King's knocked Friday Harbor out of postseason play by defeating the Wolverines 47-23 Thursday, Feb. 9. The Knights (19-2) move on to the Class 1A Tri-District Tournament. The Wolverines were 14-7 overall.
Senior Willy Dunn leads a squad of eight Wolverines competing in the Class 1A Regional Tournament Saturday at Bellevue Christian High School. The top three finishers of each class advance to the State Meet and the fourth-place finisher attends as an alternate.
The double-elimination regional competition begins at 10 a.m.

Friday Harbor girls basketball team clinched the Northwest 1A/2B League title by topping Orcas Island 49-38 Saturday, Feb. 4.
“It was great,” said Friday Harbor coach Eric Jangard of the Wolverines’ second league title in three years. “It’s good for the program.”
Friday Harbor bounced Nooksack Valley from postseason play with a 64-51 District 1 Tournament victory Wednesday, Feb. 8. The Wolverines advance to the Class 1A Tri-District Tourney Saturday, Feb. 11.
Jason King of Bellingham held onto his lead in the 2012 Annual Salmon Classic Invitational at Roche Harbor and took home $10,000 cash for his 16.6 lb chinook.
A tie for second resulted $4,000 each for Brian Dennis of Lake Tapps and David Hodges of Friday Harbor. Jennifer Payne of Friday Harbor won the $2000 mystery fish prize.
King, a Roche Harbor Classic regular, hooked the winning fish on the east side of Waldron Island about 9:45 a.m. Friday. "I was just kind of happy to see it was clipped," he said of the hatchery chinook.
Bluewater Bar and Grille in Friday Harbor put on a Blackmouth derby Saturday, January 21, 2011. Prize was $1000, winner take all for biggest fish. With the forecast calling for gales, only ten hardcore boats braved the winds to fish in the one day event. Luckily, the wind blew from due West, and San Juan Channel was fairly calm and protected.
It looks to be a great season of Blackmouth (Chinook) salmon this year. With two derbies in the bag, the numbers per fisherman are looking very good. If this trend continues, it will be fun to watch our local anglers battle it out for TEN WEEKS to the finish line, during the upcoming King’s Marine/Frank Wilson Derby starting on Wednesday, Feb 1.
Jason King of Bellingham is holding onto his lead in the 2012 Annual Salmon Classic Invitational at Roche Harbor with a 16 lb 6 oz salmon caught on the first day of fishing. First prize is $10,000 cash. The final day of fishing is underway.
Friday Harbor girls basketball team sank 22 of 36 free throws en route to a 51-42 victory over Darrington Monday, Jan. 30. The Wolverines, 9-2 in Northwest 1A/2B League action, are in first place - a half-game up on La Conner and a game better than the Loggers. Friday Harbor travels to Cedar Park Christian Tuesday, Jan. 31, is at La Conner Friday, Feb. 3 and finishes conference play at home against Orcas Island Saturday, Feb. 4.
Thirteen Wolverines scored as Friday Harbor’s boys basketball team romped to an 89-39 victory over visiting Orcas Island Saturday, Feb. 4.
Friday Harbor High School's girls basketball team won a close one against Mount Vernon Christian's team Thursday, January 26. The Wolverines beat the Hurricanes 45-42. The boys team was also victorious against the MVC, with a bit more breathing room, winning 75-20.
Shoreline Christian fared no better against the Wolverines. The boys basketball team won 64-47 against the Crusaders. The girls came away with the win 48-37.
