Orcas Island’s volleyball team is a win away from a state tourney appearance after a victory in the first round of the Class 2B Bi-District Tournament Thursday, Nov. 6. Friday Harbor finished a strong season with a loss to one of the top teams in the Bi-District.

The Vikings (9-11) defeated Auburn Adventist (4-11) in three games in the opening round at La Conner High School and fell 3-0 to La Conner (14-5) in a semifinal.

Mount Vernon Christian (12-7) beat Friday Harbor 3-0 at Forest Ridge School. The Hurricanes swept the host Ravens (7-9) in a semifinal.

Orcas and Forest Ridge will meet in a winner-to-state/loser-out match at noon Saturday, Nov. 8 at Coupeville High School. Mount Vernon Christian and La Conner secured state berths with semifinal victories and compete in the Bi-District Championship at 2 p.m.
