Week 11:    FRIDAY HARBOR WOLVERINE FOOTBALL –  Trivia, numbers, history, ramblings and stuff by Bruce Bennett

A 2B 11-man gridiron game was scheduled Saturday and basically a 1B 8-man game broke out.  At least kinda, sorta when one takes a look at the total points tallied by the two combatants – like 90.

The Wolverines 2025 season came to a close Saturday with a 52-38 loss to Rainier at Oak Harbor High School.  The team finished the season with a 3-6 record.

Odds and Ends

* Despite the loss the Purple and Gold did set a school record.  The 38 points are the most in a losing effort.  Old record was 35 in a 36-35 loss to Lynden Christian in 2011.

* Oh yes, and the 90 points combined is the second most in FH history.  The top mark is 95 in a

69-26 loss to Lummi in 2016.

* FH played three 2B opponents – Coupeville twice, Cle Elum-Roslyn and Rainier.  The latter two both qualified for the state playoffs.

* In 52 seasons the Wolverines have –

18 winning seasons, 33 losing and 1 equal wins and losses.

       A record of 209-275-1…that’s 485 games.

Home record of 120-119-1 and away of 89-156.

Scored 9,090 points and given up 10,317.

       Won 10 league championships – 1975, 1976, 1979, 1983, 2004, 2005, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2023.
