The Falcons of Whidbey visit the Wolverines of San Juan Friday evening in their annual gridiron get-together…this will be the ninth straight year these two have met.

The Falcons dropped their first three games – to Centralia 42-0, Toutle Lake 16-6 and Klahowya 28-16.  The past three-plus seasons have been rough for SW with only six wins in 28 games.

Wolverine – Falcon Stuff

* The series started in 2017 and FH trails 6-3 overall and 3-2 on San Juan.  But the Wolverines fortunes have flipped in a positive direction.  After the Langley lads won the first six contests the Wolverines reversed course and soundly defeated SW the past three seasons…and outscored them 133 to 34.

* Most points by FH – 63 (FH 63, SW 0 last fall).

* Most points by SW – 34 (SW 34, FH 14 in 2021 and ’22).

* Most points combined – 63 (FH 63, SW 0 last fall).

* Fewest points combined – 10 (SW 7, FH 3 in 2019).

* Largest winning margin by FH – 63 (FH 63, SW 0 last fall).

* Largest winning margin by SW – 20 (SW 34, FH 14 in 2021 and ‘22).

* FH has scored 215 points (23.9 per game) and SW 175 (19.4).

Home Games

* In 52-plus years the Wolverines have a winning record on the local field…not by much, but by getting victories in 22 of the last 30 contests they are 121-119-1.

* 57 different teams have boarded the ferry for games on the island.

* Most games against – Orcas Island 32, La Conner 27, Concrete 24, Coupeville 17, Darrington 14, Lynden Christian 9, Merdian 9, Snohomish Sophomores 9, Nooksack Valley 6 and Granite Falls 5. 

* The Purple and Gold have outscored their foes 4,869 to 4,516.

* Longest win streak – 17 (2004-07).

* Longest losing streak – 16 (1999-02).

* Most points by FH – 65 (65-5 over Concrete in 2005).

* Most points by opponent – 59 (Meridian 59-25 in 119).

* The FH home field has not been known for nail-biters as just over half of the games (122 of 241 or 50.6%) have been decided by 20 or more points.  There were 10 with a 1-point margin.
